Jeremy Bray, PhD

Dr. Bray research focuses on two primary areas of interest: the economics of substance abuse and mental health, and the economic evaluation of substance abuse treatment and prevention. Before coming to UNC, he was a Fellow in Health Economics at RTI International. Dr. Bray has examined the labor market effects of substance use, abuse, and dependence. Dr. Bray's also looked at the impact of alcohol use and abuse on educational attainment, wages, and labor supply decisions. In his research on the cost-effectiveness of substance abuse treatment and prevention, Dr. Bray has estimated the costs and effectiveness of employee assistance program (EAP) services, screening and brief intervention programs, behavioral and pharmacological therapies for alcohol dependence, and workplace prevention and early intervention programs. He is also the national, cross-site evaluation project director of the Center for Substance Abuse Treatment's program for Screening, Brief Intervention, Referral, and Treatment grants. Dr. Bray also served as the cross-site evaluation director on the Center for Substance Abuse Prevention-funded Young Adults in the Workplace initiative and was co-PI on a study to determine the cost-effectiveness of combined behavioral- and pharmaco-therapies for alcohol dependence.
