Is inconsistent #parenting linked to youth health?

A study by Work, Family & Health Network (WFHN) researchers examines the impact that day-to-day inconsistencies in parents' knowledge of their children's activities has on their children's behavioral, psychological, and physical health, along with the link between these inconsistencies and their own parental stress levels. The study, published in the Journal of Adolescent Health, by lead author Melissa A. Lippold, Ph.D., along with fellow WFHN researchers Susan M. McHale, Ph.D.Kelly D. Davis, Ph.D., Ellen Ernst Kossek, Ph.D., reveals that inconsistent parental knowledge of children's activities was associated with more physical health symptoms in younger children and risky behavior in girls, but better psychological well-being for older adolescents. There was a link between parental stress and knowledge inconsistency.
